Citrus Bloom was born from a simple question: What if we took the brightness of citrus and gave it a floral twist?
The episode kicks off with a nod to Citrus Bliss—often described as a summery creamsicle in a bottle—and how it left a gap for something softer and more floral but equally energizing. That’s when the doTERRA team began experimenting with new floral ingredients like magnolia.
“We found this beautiful synergy. Citruses like orange and bergamot paired with florals like magnolia, Roman chamomile, and lavender. It’s a bouquet that smells like pure joy,” shared the host.
Surprisingly, it only took six or seven attempts to land on the final Citrus Bloom essential oil blend. For context, most essential oil blends go through 20–30 iterations. This one just... worked.
Citrus Bloom isn’t just another pretty aroma. It’s a carefully balanced oil blend with both uplifting and grounding effects. That’s thanks to the way the chemical compounds in each essential oil interact.
Here’s what you’ll find in the blend:
The result is a scent that’s:
“It’s energizing in a way that still keeps you grounded. You feel motivated—but also at ease,” the host explained.
This essential oil blend was created to be a diffuser favorite, and that’s still its primary use. But we shared a few other fun ways to expand your Citrus Bloom experience.
For a small room, four to six drops will be fantastic. For larger spaces, go bold with up to 10 drops.
You can also “super dose” with a drop or two of:
“Citrus Bloom with a dash of Lime? Game changer. It adds brightness without changing the soft floral balance.”
While the essential oil blend was made for aromatic use, it also performs beautifully in skin-friendly DIYs like:
You might try adding 10 drops to a bowl of unscented lotion or Fractionated Coconut Oil for a quick spring-scented moisturizer.
Citrus Bloom is made for spring energy: fresh starts, new routines, creative projects, or even get-togethers with friends.
Use Citrus Bloom:
One of the best parts of this episode was hearing how personal the creation of Citrus Bloom was for the doTERRA team.
“You get nervous every time a new product launches. It’s like sending your baby out into the world,” one of the formulators said. But thanks to the collaborative process, experienced formulators, and real-world testing, Citrus Bloom became an instant user favorite.
This is your sign. There’s something universally joyful about this essential oil blend, and it brings so much life into your daily routine.
Start with a few drops in the diffuser. Then try it in a DIY lotion. Add Lime or Hawaiian Sandalwood (‘Iliahi) if you’re feeling adventurous. And most importantly, have fun with it!
Because, like said in the episode, “If it doesn’t smell quite right, dump it out and start again. Just begin.”
