Lavender Essential Oil

Lavender is widely considered a must-have essential oil because of its versatility. It’s been used and cherished for centuries because of its unmistakable aroma and myriad of benefits. Ancient Egyptians and Romans used lavender for bathing and cooking and in perfumes.

Lavender essential oil is distilled from the freshly harvested flowering tops of the true lavender plant (also known as English lavender) from lavender farms in Bulgaria, France, and other areas of the world.

The gentle, relaxing aroma of Lavender oil is best known for promoting a peaceful environment.

Peppermint Essential Oil

The peppermint plant is a hybrid of water mint and spearmint that was first described by Carl Linnaeus in 1753. A high menthol content—like that found in the doTERRA Peppermint essential oil—distinguishes the best quality Peppermint oil from other products. The sharp, sweet scent of Peppermint essential oil can create an exhilarating environment during physical activity.

Because of its high menthol content, Peppermint oil may be soothing when used in a massage.

Marjoram Essential Oil

Also known as “wintersweet” or “joy of the mountains,” Marjoram essential oil is valued for its calming properties and positive benefits when used as part of a soothing massage. In some areas of the world, oregano is known as “wild marjoram” and actual marjoram is known as “sweet marjoram.”

The Greeks and Romans saw marjoram as a symbol of happiness. Marjoram oil is used in culinary dishes, imparting an incredible flavor to soups, stews, dressings, and sauces. In Germany, the herb is called the “goose herb” because it’s traditionally used when roasting geese.

Cedarwood Essential Oil

The warm, woody aroma of Cedarwood essential oil promotes a relaxing environment when used topically or aromatically.

Cedarwood trees are native to cold climates, thriving in high altitudes and growing up to 100 feet high. It is known as a pioneer because it’s one of the first trees to return after an area has been cleared.

Reminiscent of the size and strength of the cedarwood tree, Cedarwood oil has a grounding scent. It’s frequently used in massage therapy and has clarifying properties when applied topically.

Lavandin Essential Oil

The lavandin plant—a natural lavender hybrid—is a marvel of the botanical world. It’s cherished for its robustness and aromatic intensity. Originating from the sun-drenched landscapes of the Mediterranean, lavandin carries the legacy of its parent plants, blending the best of soothing, floral lavender notes with an invigorating, camphoraceous aroma. Historically, lavandin was part of folk solutions because of its calming and cleaning qualities, and it was often found in sachets to scent linens.

Today, Lavandin essential oil—obtained from the steam-distilled flowering tops of the plant—is celebrated for its rich, floral, and slightly more herbaceous aroma compared to Lavender essential oil. Lavandin oil is widely appreciated for its rich, herbaceous, and soothing aroma, making it a popular choice in household and personal care products.

Niaouli Essential Oil

Niaouli is a large evergreen tree that is native to Australia. It has five-inch-long leaves and white-yellow flowers that blossom in tight spikes. Due to its flaky look, the tree has been given nicknames including bottlebush, paperbark, and paperbark tea tree. The niaouli leaves and bark were commonly used by Indigenous Australians for various purposes including teas, basketmaking, and flavoring.

Niaouli essential oil is produced through steam distillation of the leaves, creating a pure and potent product. doTERRA Niaouli oil is sourced from Madagascar, where the trees also thrive.

Niaouli essential oil is a naturally stimulating essential oil because of its eucalyptol content and composition of monoterpenes. Its chemistry makes it a pleasant complement to a soothing massage or diffuser blend. Niaouli is a relative of Tea Tree and has many similar benefits.
